The group was founded in 2008 by Angela Golden, trumpet and Dan Sartori, trombone after graduation from Indiana University; they are now joined with
BJ Cord, trumpet, Liz Deitemyer, horn and Cynthia Stark, tuba.
Second City Brass is dedicated to promoting the excitement and enjoyment of live brass music through performances, workshops, recordings and other collaborations.
Second City Brass has performed in a number of prominent Chicagoland concert series including the Barrington Area Library First Fridays Concert Series, the Northbrook Library Concert Series, the Skokie Library Concert Series, and many performances at colleges, churches and private events. Second City Brass has presented educational concerts for hundreds of school children at public and private schools in Chicago including the Merit School of Music. Second City Brass has also recorded with rock band My Canadian Girlfriend at Steve Albini’s studio - Electric Audio, in Chicago.
